Headache and Nico Nico!

こんばんは、みんなさん!(konbanwa, minna san)

... headache... hurts... DX

So, this weekend, I joined a website called ニコニコ動画. (nico nico douga)
Well, I know less Japanese than I thought I did... 0.o

I CAN'T READ ANYTHING!!! T.T
(Well, I can read the Katakana and Hiragana, but that's all... I can't make out any of the sentences or what any of the buttons do or... ya, I'm hopeless...)

Well, I have been working on Kanji. I got through... 130(?) or so reviews in the past few days. (This doesn't mean I know them by heart, it means that I looked over them and wrote them out a few times...)

Well, school started again, but it looks like I will have plenty of time to spend working on Japanese this semester. ^-^ I'm glad!

Oh, I haven't done a random 日本語(nihongo) dictionary word in a while! Maybe I'll do one next time if I remember. XD

Ok, my headache hurts a lot worse than it did when I started typing this, so I'm going now.

^-^ Thank you for reading! I'll see you again!
ありがとうございました!さようなら!(arigatou gozaimasu. sayounara)

メッリクリスマス!!!(merry Christmas!)

こんばんは!元気ですか?(konbanwa! genki desu ka?)

I'm very happy today! Because this にちようび (nichiyoubi) is Christmas!!! ^-^

I like Christmas very much!

I'm very happy about that! And on top of that we are having a guest to our house! XD

OK, on to the 日本語!(nihongo)

Word: 石 (ishi)
Meaning: stone, rock, pebble
Example sentence: この橋は石でできています。(Kono hashi wa ishi de dekite imasu.) This bridge is made of stone.

There are two more "ishi"s in my dictionary so I'll list them also, but with no example sentences.

意志 (ishi)- means "will" (be weak willed// be firm willed// of one's own free will)

意思 (ishi)- means "intent, purpose, intention"

So! Here is a funny post from Maru-chan! ^-^

Also! DANCEROID was part of a flash mob!!! XD

So, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I will write again on げつようび!(getsuyoubi)

(note to self: learn the kanji for the days of the week... 0.o)

バイバイ!メッリクリスマス!!!(bye bye! Merry Christmas!)

Pomegranate

こんばんはみんなさん!!!(konbanwa minna-san!)

きょうわげつようびです!(kyou wa getsuyoubi desu)

あの。。。(ano...)

I have this thing with fruit, or くらもの(kuramono), that I kind of brought up in my post about Watermelon and Squid. Well, I love くらもの(kuramono). It's as simple as that. So, I was very happy when my mom bought me a pomegranate a bit larger than the size of a baseball! Well, I ate it tonight. All of it. (Except for the last little bit that I gave to my mom because I couldn't finish it.) So, now would be a good time to talk about food because it won't make me hungry!!!

So, about three weeks ago, one of my awesome friends made some kimchi-pork-rice cake stew type stuff. It was really good!!! It was my first time having kimchi too, but I like it!!! It was very spicy though...

Speaking of spicy: curry! I have had some interesting experiences with curry and because of these experiences, my above mentioned friend has banned me from eating curry in her presence.
But it's yummy!!!

Anyways, I'll do the random word from the dictionary with an example sentence again because I have nothing else to say today...

Word: しかる(shikaru)
Meaning: scold, reprimand, lecture
Example sentence: お母さんがいたずらした子供をしかっています。(Okaasan ga itazura shita kodomo o shikatte imasu.) The child who played the trick is being scolded by its mother.

So! Now that's done... Oh! We went to a used books store the other night and there was a Japanese book on a table that said "$1" so my mom bought it for me!!! I'm very happy!!! (Although I can't tell what any of it reads as, I can only pick out the kanji for large (大), beginning (元)... and a couple of others. Anyways.

Ah, I need to go to bed now. Thank you for reading my blog! ありがとうございます!(arigatou gozaimasu) See you next time!!! On... きにょうび!(kinyoubi)

バイバイ!(bai bai!)

マル・マル・モリ・モリ!(maru maru mori mori!)

こんばんは!みなさん!!!(konbanwa mina-san!)

おげんきですか?(o-genki desu ka?)

げんきです!!!(genki desu!)

I'm really happy today!!! Can you guess why? XD I'll give you a hint, it's in the title!

YAY! It's time for a video!!!

マル・マル・モリ・モリ!(maru maru mori mori!)

あああ!かわいいです!(aaah! kawaii desu!!!)

This has to be the cutest thing I saw today other than an adorable kitten that a friend sent me a video of! ^-^ Soooooo cute!!!

So, moving on, my awesome friend that I mentioned in a few of my previous posts who is helping me with にほんご(nihongo) told me about a site called Nonstop Tube. ( by the way, the link will lead to the Japanese one.) So it's pretty awesome! What you do is you copy and paste kanji that you don't know or that you're learning into the box and click the "youtube" button underneath it and it will play everything it can find on youtube that has that kanji in it non-stop!!! XD (another by the way, you could type in anything. band names, peoples names, random phrases, etc. I just can't guarantee the results...) So yes, that made me happy. And yes, that is where I found マル・マル・モリ・モリ!

Have fun with all of this! ^-^ And I hope you have a good week! I'll try to keep up with my studies! Thank you very much for reading my blog, I appreciate it a lot! And I'll see you next time! さようなら!(sayounara) ありがとうございます!(arigatou gozaimasu!)

... Speaking of my friend, I saw him today but he was talking with somebody and then I didn't see him when we normally hang out... and apparently he wasn't in class today... I hope he's not sick... D:

Yay post!

こんにちは!!!(konnichiwa)

So, today I'll e talking about two things!

First! I was just practicing にほんご(nihongo) in the library the other day and I wanted to share what I wrote because I thought it was funny! I will not put the romanji in until the end because I actually wrote in parenthesise for part of it and I don't want it to be confusing... not that that sentence wasn't confusing, but... ^-^

Second! I finished another of the books I told you about in my post called ほんです(hon desu) and I want to share some of the parts that I thought were funny from that book!

Here we go!!!

....................................................................................................................................................

おはようございます!げんきですか?

げんきです!<3

あの。。。

きょうはもくようびです。あの。。。あたし。。。あああ。。。0.o

I don't have my dictionary with me and I haven't practiced my にほんご in a while, so sense I have the time and I finished reading for history and my math homework... ah, run on sentence that I can't tie together anymore... あ。

さ!。。。ココロ?kokoro? =0

くがつです!(It's September!)

Hm... maybe I should work on memorizing the months next... 0.o

あおいがすきです! <3

a ア i イ u ウ e エ o オ
my first katakana! >-<

・「おい。。。あなたはともだちですか?」
・「はい!ともだちです!<3」
・「やった!」

Don't know where that came from... 0.o

^-^ iku-suru-kuru! (go-do-come!)

...Don't know where that came from either... 0.o

....................................................................................................................................................

So! the romanazation of all the hiragana will be here in order of appearance in the actual... whatever it is, let's call it a note! ^-^

Ohayou gozaimasu! Genki desu ka? (good morning! how are you?)
Genki desu! (Fine, thanks!)
Ano... (um)
Kyou wa mokuyoubi desu. ano... atashi... aaa... (today is Thursday. um... I... aaa...)

sa! kokoro? (so! ( I was experimenting with how to write kokoro so the meaning is not relevant in this case. It has no meaning right now, but kokoro is one of my fav. words!))
kugatsu desu! (It's September!)

Aoi ga suki desu! (I like Blue!)

"oi... anata wa tomodachi desu ka?" (hey, you're my friend, right?)
"hai! tomodachi desu!"(yes, I'm you're friend!)
"yatta!"(yay!)

.........................

OK! So, in the post mentioned above, I talked about a book called Making Sense of Japanese, What The Textbooks Don't Tell You by Jay Rubin. Well, I finished it and I want to share some quotes from it! ^-^ enjoy!

- Ame ni furarete komatta / "Being fallen on by rain, I was distressed" / "Damn, I got rained on."

- "Pardon me, officer, but I've just been rareru'ed," you say to the policeman.
"Oh, sorry to hear that, sir, but what were you rareru'ed?"
"I was rareru'ed someody's having stolen my suitcase."
"How's that again?"
"I was stolen my suitcase!"
"What an odd way to put it!"
"Of course it's odd. I'm Japanese, and that's how we phrase these things when our English is a little shaky!"

-Well, where's the steak? It had vanished. Or rather, it never existed. I denied myself the steak, told myself that I was being good and doing the right thing by saving my money instead. I mentally enjoyed the imaginary steak to compensate for the unexciting act of handing my money over to the teller. Sigh.

- Amerika no kata desu ka / "Are you an American?"
Amerika-jin no tsumori desu kedo... / "Well, I was last time I looked..."

- ...Itadakimasu, meaning more or less literally, "I humbly receive." (Literally, it means to place something above your head or hold something over your head, a gesture intended as a humble expression of awestruck gratitude, but don't do this with your food.)

That's all! All of these are form the second half of the book because I didn't think to share them until I was past the half-way point. ^-^ I hope you liked them! If you are learning Japanese and you are pretty far along then I suggest this book. As I said in my post that I have linked to, this book is a bit ahead of me. It was very fun and educational despite my insufficient skill right now! So! Um... Ya, this is all for now! I hope you liked my post for today! ありがとうございます!!!さようなら!(arigatou gozaimasu! sayounara!)

ピカピカする!(pika-pika suru)

こんばんは!(konbanwa)

Hello everyone! おげんきですか?(o-genki desu ka)

So, I have been practicing my にほんご(nihongo)these past few days and I have a new favourite word!!!

ピカピカする(pika-pika suru)

ピカピカする means "glittering" or "shining"! I like shiny things, so obviously I like this word (or is it multiple words... "pika-pika" and "suru"? but put together they mean one thing... and "suru" means "to do"...)

So, はい!(hai)

That's all for today! ごめなさい(gomenasai), this post is very short. Thank you for your time!!! ありがとうございます!!!(arigatou gozaimasu) I'll write again on げつようび(getsuyoubi) hopefully! (I have some down time between classes, but the computers at the school don't have the ひらがな(hiragana) setting on them and I don't feel like copy-and-pasting characters from Wikepedia so, the post may or may not have にほんご(nihongo) in it!) じゃまった(Ja matta)... I'll be going now! Have a wonderful weekend! さようなら!(sayounara)

(Side note: If you are awesome and know Japanese very well and you happen to read this and find flaws in my Japanese, please tell me! I still have a lot to learn and I know that half the stuff I write is probably a bit off. Thank you very much also for reading my posts!)

ひらがな(hiragana)

This past week I have been working to master ひらがな(hiragana). Well, I think I finally have! The only ones I have a hard time with anymore are ね、ぬ、ゆ、む(ne, nu, yu, mu). Aside from those, I can tell what they are after looking at them! I don't have to think so hard about them any more!!! ^-^ やった!!!(yatta) So, it's a pretty big accomplishment because it's taken me this long to learn them. I'm glad! Now I can move on to かたかな(katakana). Of course, I'm not going to use the katakana setting  in these posts yet if I don't know any! XD

So! はい(hai).

.............................................................................

Ah, I should stop procrastinating on my homework... Maybe my goal for this semester is to not procrastinate... hmmm, might be worth a try. Well, I have to get up early tomorrow so, さようなら!(sayounara) Thanks so much for reading again! And thanks for reading if it's your first time too!!! ありがとうございます!!!(arigatou gozaimasu)

Testing, Sister, and Random stuff

こんにちは! (konnichiwa!) Hello again everyone! I made it through one of the hottest weeks of my life!!! Yay!

So, a friend of mine is learning Korean. She is doing much better than I am at にほんご (nihongo), so I feel kinda bad... But we came up with an idea together for a way that we can help each other with the vocabulary of each language, so I hope that we can pull it off! It will kind of be like giving tests to each other, we just won't grade the best most likely... Anyways, it will be a lot of fun! And I'm looking forward to the practice as well as the fun!

This month, my sister will be coming to visit me! I mentioned that my sister had originally influenced me to learn にほんご (nihongo) in my first post, A New Chapter. Well, my sister knows that I am trying to learn it again and she told me that I will have to practice with her and help her learn as well! I will be going into にほんご (nihongo) learning mode! My sister let me send her some words to practice for when she gets here, so I sent her some colors:
しろい (shiroi), くろい (kuroi), あおい (aoi), あかい (akai), みどり (midori), ちやいろ (chairo), きいろ (kiiro), オレンジいろ (orenji iro), はいいろ (haiiro), and ピンク (pinku). In order, those are white, black, blue, red, green, brown, yellow, orange, gray, and pink. The way I learned to write orange and pink used Katakana instead of Hiragana, and I'm not sure why... I should look it up. I was practicing them when she was talking to me, so I just gave those too her.

I have been trying to make sentences that make sense rather than just throwing around random words lately. But most of them still sound very childish and incomplete... I know that I can't have full conversations in にほんご (nihongo) yet, but I really want to speak more than ねこわどうぶつです (neko wa doubutsu desu) and きようわきんようびです (kyou wa kin'youbi desu) and ほんわどうぶつではありません (hon wa doubutsu dewa arimasen). I am very impatient I guess...

Anyways, I have a lot of things to do today, not to mention it's lunch time! ありがとうございます! (arigatou gozaimasu!) Thank you for reading! I hope to improve, so feel free to tell me if I've made mistakes! Advise and encouragement is welcome! さようなら (sayounara) for now!
